Communikey (CMKY) is a Boulder-based interdisciplinary organization dedicated to social, cultural and ecological innovation through creative process. We facilitate forward thinking cultural experiences that emphasize the intersection of sound, design and technology in artistic forms that are under-represented. Communikey forges a creative exchange across cultures, backgrounds, and mediums while fostering the development of the local arts community.

Cafe Du Nord // 2174 Market St. San Francisco CA 94114

The once Boulder-based Communikey (CMKY) will re-launch its one-off series beginning in San Francisco under the name “Prism”. Now with members rooted in various cities across North American, CMKY’s Prism will be devoted to bringing new collaborations and intersections to the dance floor while maintaining its already celebrated curatorial excellence.

The first official date of the series will be SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6 at CAFE DU NORD with special guests AUSCULTATION (100% Silk, 1080p) and ABBY ECHIVERRI (The Bunker New York). Both prolific producers in their own right, Echiverri’s recent debut, Ab Initio, is a breath of fresh air in sea of standard issue dance tracks; the record bears only a taste of her live presence. Melody-centric musician Joel Shanahan of Auscultation weaves lofty bedroom jams that can be turned around into transformative dance floor magic. He has released works on 100% Silk, 1080p, and Tree Tapes.

These live hardware performances will be complemented by Bay Area-based artists HAUSTIER (Vague Terrain) and EXPERIMENTAL HOUSEWIFE (Jacktone, Perfect Location), and visualist ROSE CHERAMI (True Indigo).

Prism wishes to offer a type of crucial reclamation: CMKY is focused on community building, storytelling, emergent artforms and colorful exuberance. In the wake of current events, Communikey members new and old share a matured mission for the collective. CMKY now bears specified value in inclusivity, safer spaces, and effort in dismantling monopolized practices.
